The £1.25m Reading homes inspired by America that house-hunters can’t get enough of

A “New England” style home in Caversham is getting a lot of interest from house-hunters, even though it’s on the market for £1.25 million.

The pricey house in The Warren has generated a huge amount of interest on the property website Rightmove.

It was the second most viewed property on the site in August, after being pipped by an equally expensive house, also in Caversham, for the top spot.

The home, called The Glen, was built in the 1920s and then remodelled in 2005. Since that point it has been improved again by its current owners.

The home has four bedrooms, but its centrepiece is a 23ft kitchen, dining and family room, which leads into the garden.

The buyer who eventually snaps it up will also get “elevated landscape” gardens.

The price tag might seem hefty, but recent sales in The Warren – an exclusive area on the banks of the Thames – include a £1.65 million home and a £2.995 million home.

Most homes on sale in the area are on the market between £800,000 and £1 million.
