Tesco customers have been left disgruntled and furious after claiming the leading supermarket cancelled all home deliveries today from 1pm onwards.
According to shoppers on social media platforms, the issue is thought to have been caused by an internal IT problem.
A number of consumers have reported complete cancellations of orders, which they have been left unable to rebook.
The Mirror reports that shoppers calling up the supermarket chain for answers were met with an automated voice message that said: “Due to technical issues we’ve had to cancel all orders after 1pm. If your order was due after 1pm you have not been charged. We’re unable to reschedule these orders.”
One would-be customer said: “Any help with getting my order that has JUST been cancelled when I need it tonight? Your ‘help’ desk was no help and couldn’t be bothered.” Another, added: “You have cancelled a delivery for an elderly, housebound client of mine without explanation.
“He is now left without basic essentials for the weekend. Your customer service number is hanging up on connection and you are not responding to DMs.”
A spokesperson for Tesco, responded by saying: “Due to a technical issue, we have had to cancel some online orders that were due for delivery today. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused. Customers who are impacted can use our app or website to rebook at a time convenient to them.”
The Mirror also reports that Tesco orders placed after today will not be affected.
Earlier this year, Tesco announced three delivery saver schemed from as little as £2.49 per month, the most budget Anytime Click + Collect option allows shoppers to choose the exact time and date that they would like to collect orders over £25. The next monthly tariff starting at £4.99 is the Off Peak Delivery Plan, which also includes a £25 minimum for click and collect, as well as a £40 minimum for home delivery.
However, with this option, shoppers get the added flexibility of same day click and collect slots, as well as guaranteed next day delivery. Priced marginally higher at £7.99 per month is the Anytime Delivery Pla,, which holds the same minimum spends. The difference however, is that same day options are available for both click and collect, as well as home delivery.
