King’s Lynn hope to confirm a new date for their home leg of the League Cup Final in the very near future.
The Minors & Brady Stars were set to stage the decider against Sheffield next Monday, but those plans have been dashed by the rain-off of the Tigers’ play-off semi-final at Wolverhampton last night (September 26).
That meeting has now been rearranged for Monday October 3, meaning a new date is needed for the Cup showdown in Norfolk. Stars will, however, still travel to Owlerton for the first leg as planned this Thursday.
Team boss Alex Brady said: “We’re naturally disappointed that the Cup Final is going to have to be rescheduled, and it’s disappointing for riders who’d booked flights in.
“I know there are fans who had cut short trips to Torun this weekend to be at King’s Lynn next Monday – that includes myself as well, but I’m most disappointed for the fans who had made arrangements to be there.
“Unfortunately though the weather is out of our control and the play-offs do have to take priority, which of course is what we were fighting for all season!
“If the shoe was on the other foot we’d want to make sure our play-off semi-final could be run at the right time too.
“We do hope to arrange a new date as soon as possible, but in the meantime we’re looking forward to going to Sheffield on Thursday and we’ll do everything we can to either be in the lead or have a good fist of it and keep it very, very tight.
“We need to make sure that when we do have that leg at the Adrian Flux Arena we can do ourselves proud and hopefully bring some silverware back for King’s Lynn.”
