Hina Khan is one of TV’s leading actors, and is known for her impressive acting chops. Her Instagram feed is always real as she gives us a glimpse of her life — whether it is about spending time at home or PDA with partner Rocky Jaiswal. In a new inspiring post shared on her IG stories, the actress spoke about gaining weight during the pandemic and how she decided to focus on her mental health over losing weight.
Hina Khan on weight loss
She wrote, “Had put on some kilos in these months for obvious reasons and I really did not pay attention to how many kilos I put on. My mental health was way more important and I just wanted to be, wanted to do things that make me happy. Sometimes let yourself be, enjoy the little things, do what you like without thinking much about what people will say or how I am looking.”
She added, “After all, one needs to be in the right frame of mind to do anything in life. And I chose mental health, my well-being over my physical appearance. Now here I am, back in action.”
Weight gain amid the pandemic
Hina isn’t the first TV star who has opened up about weight gain during the pandemic. Bigg Boss winner Rubina Dilaik also spoke about gaining weight while recovering from COVID-19 and how she chose to focus on her mental health, elaborating her experience in a post: “I’m learning to love myself again after realising that a perfect, lean body doesn’t always define who I am.”
The pandemic has affected us in so many ways — our mental health went for a toss, and many of us turned to food for comfort, which led to weight gain. Now that we’re slowly going back to normalcy and going out again, the focus on our pre-pandemic bodies is back. However, Hina and Rubina’s message is inspiring. We love that they have used their platform to shed light on how to accept our bodies, how mental health is paramount and that we shouldn’t ignore it.
Kudos to them!
