The Mount Camphill Community needs your help
Submitted to the Kent and Sussex Courier
An East Sussex charity has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help put the finishing touches to their new home for young cohousers.
Pond House, in the village of Wadhurst, will become offsite housing for The Mount Camphill Community.
The Mount provides education, co-housing and personal care for young adults aged 16 to 25 with learning disabilities.
Pond House will offer supported, independent, community living for young adults who choose to live outside The Mount’s main campus, but within walking distance to it.
The crowdfunding campaign is being launched to help close the gap for their overall fundraising appeal and support the property’s renovation.
Pond House is a large family house situated in the heart of Wadhurst and it requires extending, improving, refurbishment, new fixtures and fittings, to provide a home for six co-housing tenants along with a co-worker family and two young volunteers who will also live there.
Wealden MP Nusrat Ghani said:
“The Mount Community is a fantastic asset to Wealden, helping students gain greater independence, create friendships, and equipping them with skills to help them engage in the community outside college life.
“The Pond House will create a beautiful, new home in the heart of Wadhurst and provide a stepping stone for some of Mount’s residents to fuller independent living. If you can, please help them reach their goal and support their fundraiser.”
