GTA Online Expands Cayo Perico With New Race, Buried Treasure, & More

A brand-new update coming to Grand Theft Auto Online will expand Cayo Perico with additional content like a new Race Series, a new off-road vehicle and buried treasure. Rockstar Games’ multiplayer crime simulator launched back in 2013, and the developer continues to support the open-world title with updates and expansions. GTA Online added Cayo Perico back in 2020, and now players are getting more things to do on the small island map.

While Grand Theft Auto Online mainly takes place in the city of Los Santos and the larger state of San Andreas, players can also visit the island of Cayo Perico. The map was first added to the game as part of The Cayo Perico Heist, a complex mission where players steal from a major drug cartel. The heist can be played alone or as a group, and there are various ways to successfully pull off the job. Cayo Perico also contains The Music Locker, a nightclub that players can visit to enjoy the island’s high-class vibes. The Cayo Perico Heist added a panther statue in May 2021, too, which gives players an additional objective during the popular mission.

A new Rockstar Newswire blog post has revealed exciting new Cayo Perico content coming to Grand Theft Auto Online. As part of the larger Criminal Enterprises expansion, the update will give players even more reasons to visit the sunny shores of Cayo Perico. The Cayo Perico Series will introduce 10 intense Races that will take players around El Rubio‚Äôs compound and across the island’s beaches. The Declasse Draugur, a monstrous off-road vehicle, will make it easier to drive across the island’s beaches. After the update players who comb the beaches of Los Santos with a metal detector may also find a map which leads to buried treasure on Cayo Perico.

GTA Online’s Cayo Perico Gives Criminals An Island Getaway

Released earlier this summer, the Grand Theft Auto Online: Criminal Enterprises update breathed new life into the open-world title’s economy and career system. The extensive update added new missions for each of the game’s career paths, ensuring that all players received new and engaging ways to make money. Bikers can now modify motorcycles for a profit, for example, while Nightclub owners have a variety of new ways to promote their clubs. Criminal Enterprises also added permanent payout boosts to GTA Online, reinvigorating the title’s simulated economy.

Grand Theft Auto Online’s newest update should have players flocking back to the gorgeous tropical shores of Cayo Perico. The island has always been appreciated for its beautiful scenery and exciting heist, but now players will be able to search for buried treasure and engage in 10 new races. Along with the Declasse Draugur off-road vehicle, this new GTA Online update should be perfect for some virtual summer fun.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
