A care home in Brentwood, Essex was full of motoring enthusiasm when it held a classic car show in its car park.
Residents at Leonard Lodge care home were pleasantly surprised to see cars such as an Austin 12/4 Clifton Tourer 1924 in their car park as the South Eastern Vintage and Classic Car Vehicle Club paid a visit.
Mihaela, general manager of Leonard Lodge care home, said: “Our residents really enjoyed the event. We knew that having the classic car club here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus.
“We are always looking for new activities for the residents and we have seen the enjoyment and the fantastic reminiscence benefits that vintage cars can have on people.”
Rhoda, 91, who lives at the home, said: “Its been a lovely experience looking around all the different cars and how it took me back to when I was a young girl.
“I was amazed as to how well the car club keep them so clean and shiny.”
Leonard Lodge care home is run by Barchester Healthcare. It provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for up to sixty residents from respite care to long term stays.
